I was stoked thinking I'd have an additional hearth (something great for world pvp) when this came up. Even those that have cool effects last for such a short time that they're almost insulting after you've spent a few hours collecting fragments.
While there are a couple of rewards that are definitely useful (Zin'Rokh and the Staff of Sorceror-Thane Thaurissan), most of the items don't provide any benefit other than some particularly lame effect like dwarves dancing, or an incredible 20 second shape shift.īlizzard mostly failed on archaeology by making the rare items have absolutely minimal effects. Anything that requires so much player time should have rewards that are at least more than wastes of bag and bank space. the real point of archaeology is to spend hours flying around to places you've already visited hundreds of times in order to get rewards that are 9 out of 10 times completely, utterly useless.Īrchaeology requires investing a lot of time.

There is still a 5% chance it is a male dwarf who shaved his beard, but I'm just going to go with it's a girl dwarf. *comes back* Okay! He's about 95% sure it's a girl, but he says that's as good as it'll get. *comes back* Okay well I found a dark iron dwarf but he isn't sure because he can only identify the genders of dark iron dwarves, and even then just barely. Okay so my friend is telling me he thinks it's a female dwarf, but he's only about 60% sure, dwarves are highly androgynous.
